Heya Smidgers!
No recipe today there has been more work on the tiny. We have spray foam! It took about a week longer than anticipated. Our contractor had to fire his original insulation guy due to several reschedules and finally just not showing up. Once our contractor finally found a new insulation company, it only took a day to get the whole house sprayed. I say whole house like it’s a mansion or something. It probably only took them an hour or so. It probably took longer to get their equipment set up than it did to actually spray the insulation.I know I’m rambling. I can’t help it, I’m just getting excited about the progress. Let’s go on a tour shall we…
After a day or two for drying and airing out, we got to see the spray foam in the walls. When we opened the door, the kitchen and bedroom loft was the first thing we got to see. Our bedroom is really starting to come together. We are getting a half wall to give us a little privacy. The stairs going up to the bedroom are going to be pretty cool. We have cats and have been trying to figure out what to do with the litter smell. Well, they are going to get their very own bathroom built into the stairs. We are going to have a small vent fan going through the outside wall to get the smell out. We are still working out the complete staircase configuration. we want it to have some storage as well as the litter box. Anyway, moving on.
The bathroom had changed layouts several times since we bought the house. The final layout has the shower on the right side of the room as you walk in. The toilet will be under the window, and the sink will be in the back left corner. We have the bathroom plumbed for a washer/dryer combo that will be purchased later. We have been trying to go green as much as possible going forward, so we have purchased a composting toilet for the house. We went with a Natures Head Composting toilet. This ought to be interesting. I’m not sure how The Lovely Amy is going to handle emptying it.
Finally, the living room. We plan on having a built in couch with storage. We are still deciding on what to do to hide the electrical panel in the wall. We are thinking about having a local artist paint a mural on a salvaged door. It will provide a conversation piece that will be one of the first things that you will see when you walk in.
Well, that’s about it. We will be working on walls and paint so there will be more updates coming.
Did you notice the different watermarks on the pictures this week? The Lovely Amy took the pictures and watermarked them for me. She is a crafty little thing. She makes greeting cards and other paper crafts. If you are interested, go check out her blog.
