Homemade Whipped Cream
Forget the stuff in the can! Making your own whipped cream at home is easy, more economical, and tastes much better than anything you can buy in your grocer’s freezer or dairy section. No more mystery ingredient “whipped topping”. Whip up your own cream for all of your dessert needs in less than 5 minutes with only 2 ingredients!
Heavy whipping cream doubles in volume after it is whipped, so use that when determining how much end product you will need.
Add the desired amount of heavy cream into a mixer or into a cold mixing bowl. Beat until it starts to thicken up a bit. Add in approximately ¼ cup of sugar per cup of heavy cream, or adjust to your taste. Continue whipping until it is to your desired thickness. Don’t over-whip or you will make butter!
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- ¼ cup sugar
- Place cream in a mixing bowl. Beat until it starts to thicken.
- Add sugar and continue to beat until it reaches desired thickness.
- Optional add-ins: vanilla, cinnamon, almond extract, ovaltine chocolate powder.
Here’s an idea of what it should look like!
