Party ideas, simple tips, crafts, and time savers … oh my! Pair that with a cocktail, and you’ve got July! We are in the throes of summer, and it’s heating up fast! Here in America (for all my non USA readers), we have the 4th of July holiday right in the beginning of the month! People are taking off work, vacationing, and getting ready for their big bash! Summer time is already a super busy time, especially for young families, so adding in the holiday can make for frazzled jammed schedules in trying to pull off the last detail in a hurry! Whether you are throwing a last-minute party, bringing stuff with you out of town, or time just simply got away from you, I put together some simple easy tips on everything from decorations, to a dessert, to kids crafts, to your dog, a beauty tip, and of course… an adult beverage! All items are super budget friendly! You can use stuff you’ve already got lying around the house, go to your local discount fabric store, dollar store, or drug store. And the beauty about these tips is.. you can apply the concept to any holiday throughout the entire year!
Holiday Decoration Ideas
Items used: White candles in jar, red short pillar candles, raffia ribbon, fabric ribbon, tinfoil star garland, tinsel garland, star cut-out confetti, storage box, white felt, little USA flags on plastic sticks.
Tie ribbons around candles and make bows, or regular knots and let the tails flow. Slide a stick flag into the center of the knot between the bow for an accessorized festive look. You can wrap different garland around the candles and use as a table display. You can simply set the candles free-standing on the table, and sprinkle star shaped confetti around them. You can put all the candles on the display box, elevated, and wrap garland around the whole set for a nice centerpiece, or use to display and store the candles off in the corner of the room, deck, or table to be used at night. See pictures below.
Festive Ideas For Pets:
Items Used: Flexible star shaped ice-cube tray, organic beef broth, festive fabric cut into bandanna shaped triangles!
This ice-cube tray is rubbery/latex super bendable, and the cubes are shaped in stars. Instead of water, I filled it with organic beef broth! A tasty cool treat for your dog on a hot day, and perfect to give them at a party. Helps them cool off, and keeps them busy! Pop the ice cubes out into a small bowl and keep them in the freezer for your dog. Go to your local fabric store and find some holiday themed fabric (here its red, white, and blue). Ask it to be cut in a triangle shape big enough to use as a festive holiday bandanna on your pup!
Craft Ideas For The Kids
Items Used: Craft paint, brushes, tinfoil, card stock paper, water, paper towel, glue, glitter.
1. Hand painted place mat! Have the kids paint a holiday themed place mat holder to decorate your party table for guests! Great for close friends and family on the list!
2. Glitter fun! Let the kids make their own fireworks with glue and glitter! Fun artwork for parents to display at the real party itself. It’s a great conversation piece!
Super Duper Easy Dessert Idea
Items used: Ice cream sandwiches (traditional, or offered example of lactose free version), sprinkles, popsicle sticks, holiday cupcake liner.
Roll ice cream sandwich around in multi-colored sprinkles, making sure the sprinkles stick all around the outside of the sandwich to the ice cream. Slide in a popsicle stick to the bottom of sandwich to create a “sandwich pop”, and place inside a holiday cupcake liner. Can make a batch in advance, like 12 festive sandwich pops, and place them in your freezer. They are ready to serve at the party!
Simple Time Saving Beauty Tip
Ladies, sometimes we just don’t have time to fit in a mani-pedi! If you can’t make it to the salon for your “usual”, but just want to at least slap some paint on and go, here are two products that will help your nails dry quickly!
1. Sally Hanson Dry & Go Drops – $7-8 at the drugstore
2. Professional Nail Dry spray from Ulta – $2.99
And last but not least!!! THE COCKTAIL!! 🙂 Peach Fizzler Wine Cooler
Items Used: Stellar Organics Fair Trade dry white wine (Sauvignon Blanc – no sulfites added), Tree of Life Organic Honey, Bionaturae Organic Peach Fruit Spread, Polar Seltzer, Organic Peach, Ice-cubes, wine glass, cutting board, knife. (The recipe calls for peach syrup or nectar. I couldn’t find any at our local store, so I used spread here. 🙂
OH YEA< how could I forget… there is an actual recipe for the peach fizzler wine cooler. You can eyeball the drink and wing it like I did, either to make one glass or a whole pitcher. The recipe calls for making a whole pitcher, that will make 4 servings for people at your party. Here is the recipe:
Ingredients
- 1 cup Stellar Organics Fair Trade dry white wine (Sauvignon Blanc – no sulfites added)
- 3 cups seltzer
- 1 cup organic peach syrup or nectar (organic peach fruit spread works too)
- 2 TBs organic raw honey
- 4 slices of fresh organic peach for garnish
Instructions
- Pour wine, seltzer, honey, and spread into jar. Stir to blend until honey/syrup is dissolved. Pour over ice in wine glass. Garnish with a fresh peach slice. You can change the recipe around depending on how strong you want your drink. Like 4 cups of white dry wine per 1 cup of seltzer. Another alternative if you cannot find peach syrup, nectar, or spread… try using the syrup from organic canned peaches! That would do the trick if nothing else is working. :)) Enjoy!
SO! There ya have it! I hope all these tips serve you well! If you happen to try or use any of them, feel free to write me and share your story! Would love to hear all about it!
