So here it is, the last day of March .. Autumn officially ended four months ago or so, and while we’ve had milder weather recently, we still get the temps dipping back and forth between cold and warm and between rain and snow as Ohio tries to push into Spring! Just today, we in N.E. Ohio, have started to experience colder Fall-like temps, morning rain, dropping from deary thundering skies while the wind blows and puddles gather.
So no matter what season we are supposed to be in right now, when I think of Fall, so many things come to mind .. chunky sweaters, cozy blankets, baking delicious treats, home made stews, hot tea, decorating the house, and nail polish! OH yes of course a gal has got to switch up her manicure to match!
And of course, you cannot forget all things apple: apples and caramel, apple pie, baked apples and cinnamon, apple strudel pastry, apple dumplings, walnut apple cake … aaannndd apple cider! Autumn apple cider is not just a treat, but it has super powers that does a body good! You can drink it cold, or heat it up slowly (simmer, not boil!) for a warming super healthy treat! Apple Cider is not just for the Fall season, in my house we drink it year round! I love to gently heat mine up on the stove for a warming healthy treat, where as my Dad prefers to drink his cool from the fridge.

The Difference Between Apple Cider And Apple Juice
Apple cider is picked, washed, ground, pressed fresh juice. Raw, natural, organic.
Apple juice starts off as cider then concentrated into syrup or powder then reconstituted with water and hermetically bottled to be shelf safe.
Fact: Not all apple juices are the same!! EEK!
Double Fact: Conventional apple juice is not real juice! Juice from concentrate mixed with water, artificial sweeteners, chemicals, and preservatives is not only not real juice, it’s not a real food, and it certainly does NOT pack the punch of healthy benefits listed above.
SO, if you want the true health benefits of the juice from apples, the only way to go is with natural raw organic unpasteurized apple juice (cider). I love to make my own apple cider drinks with raw ingredients of apple, cinnamon sticks, orange peels, herbs etc. But it’s impossible to do that every time you want apple cider, given today’s hectic lifestyle. So when I cannot make my own, I get the next best thing which is raw organic unpasteurized apple juice (cloudy with “the mother”) from whichever brand is available at that time. I like to buy them in the gallon glass containers in bulk to keep the flow of juice in my body. I use the juice for all kinds of things from drinking it plain, to making hot apple cider, adding to smoothies, adding to Mason’s food bowl, or using the juice in recipes that call for apple juice. The brand I’ve been using for months now, and very pleased with, is Field Day Organic Apple Juice – NonGMO, organic, raw, unfiltered & unpasteurized in the glass gallon jar.
When reading labels, make sure it shows organic labeling, organic seals, NonGMO seals, and labels read 100% real juice!
When reading the ingredients, if a product claims to be organic and natural, but has ingredients on the label you cannot pronounce, that sound chemical or like a science experiment, and has more ingredients listed than what the item should be.. steer clear of that brand. Example: When buying organic apple juice, the ingredients should only list organic apples!
And lastly, it’s always good to check the packaging for an excerpt about the company. It helps you get a feel for what they’re all about.. or not!
Juice like this can be hard to find in your regular conventional grocery store (most don’t even carry it), especially in bulk.. and not all local health food stores carry it either. Or you may find some health food stores do carry it, but it’s a much smaller bottle at a more expensive price per the number of ounces, which makes it not so feasible to buy a lot of and have on hand for daily/weekly use! A great alternative is to shop for it online and have it delivered. This way you are ensured of having a raw organic product, in bulk, with all the health benefits on it’s way to you! Buying a case of 4 bottles at a time stocks you up for a few months!
